Life .. n'stuff

Wed Jan 30, 2008, 5:35 PM
So, another week break in my amazingly educational degree program. Okay, really I have learned a lot if I think about it, but right now I'm just enjoying the time off. Next term starts 4 days a week rotating schedule clinicals, and while I'm not over joyed about shift work when i'm not even an employee, at least the 4 days a week thing means I'll be learning more, and polishing my skills. They're talking about a weekend rotation next term - at least it's only 1 weekend in 10 weeks.

Honestly, I wish our clinical site would stop accepting more students. Given my work history - I've got nothing to prove about my willingness to do odd shifts and work holidays / weekends (most every job I've had has required all that). It's just I was getting paid to do it then, now I'm paying someone (my school) to do it... seems a bit mental if ya ask me, especially given just how much I'm paying them for the privilage. I mean really - if I'm going to pay to work someplace can't I at least regular hours or something? Meh.. guess not.

At least it's a short drive from home, the redeeming factor.

In all seriousness, I have to question why we've gone to shift work, shipped out manufacturing jobs, and don't see pay raises in the private sector that keep pace with cost of living increases ( let alone gas prices). If my pay check has increase like the cost of gas has - I'd have never have needed to go back to school (and thus put myself out ~36k) because if the job I was doing 10 years ago paid twice as much - it'd about comparable to what i'll be making after I'm out of school.

So any how - the worlds on spin dry and the only thing coming out in this cycle is the change in my pockets - but I fooled 'em - I didn't have any change to start with! HA!

Hopefully i'll get a few more renders posted this week, if DA stops going maintenance all over may buttocks.
